The new Aston Martin DB11 is 600HP of British Allure.

Aston Martin has just taken the cover off of the 10th generation DB series coupe with the 600HP DB11.

The newest offering in the DB series comes with a twin-turbocharged V12 engine mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission and limited slip differential. The 5.2-liter engine will push the DB-11 from 0 to 62 in 3.9 seconds.

As is the case with most Aston Martins the DB11 has all the right curves and lines, The Aston Martin DB11 manages to simultaneously look aggressive and elegant.

The DB11 isn't all brute power under the hood either. In an effort to conserve fuel when you aren't screaming down the highway, Aston Martin applies what it calls Intelligent Cylinder Deactivation to deactivate one bank of cylinders effectively turning your V12 into a straight 6. You may be asking how this is any different from other cars that do this. The answer lies in the 'Intelligent' part. In order to keep the engine at the optimal operating temperature the engine will alternate between active banks to keep any of the cylinders from getting too cool.

One thing you may notice is missing is a rear spoiler to help create downforce to help keep your tires connected to the road. What Aston Martin has done is use what they call a "virtual spoiler". The "virtual spoiler" sucks in air from intakes inside the C pillars, carries it through ducts hidden inside of the body, and expels it through the rear deck lid. This along with vents at the front wheel arches provide enough downforce to keep you firmly planted to the road on your way to hitting the 200 MPH top speed.

The Aston Martin DB11 certainly doesn't come cheap with a price tag starting at $212,000.00, but then again is that really too much to pay for a rolling piece of art?

1987 Aston Martin Lagonda "Shooting Brake", Definitely not your average Aston Martin.

I am relatively certain that James Bond would never be caught dead in this weird set of wheels.

When I hear the name Aston Martin there are two things that immediately come to mind. James Bond is obviously the first, and the second being absolute automotive beauty. You would be hard pressed to find an Aston Martin that isn't sleek, stylish, and just all around good looking. Aston Martin has a long history of designing powerful and sexy cars with almost no exception to that rule. As I make my travels through the interwebs, I have found many interesting cars but none have repulsed and shocked me as much as this 1987 Aston Martin Lagonda "Shooting Brake". For those of you who may not be familiar with the term, a "Shooting Brake" is what the Europeans call a wagon version of a car.

We have a few of these over here in the US, most notably the Mercedes Benz E Class Wagon.
Of course there are wagon versions of other vehicles as well. The Ford Focus has a "5 door option, the Hyundai Elantra has one as well but there is one thing these vehicles all have in common. They look good like they were designed to be that way because, ultimately, they were. A few weeks ago I did a brief write up about the new Aston Martin Vulcan which in my honest opinion might be one of the most bad ass and best looking Aston Martins ever created. The Lagonda "Shooting Brake" is the Vulcans older and much uglier cousin. You know the one, the cousin that nobody talks about for some reason or another.

Without any further delay I give you the 1987 Aston Martin Lagonda Shooting Brake.










As ugly as this car is on the outside, it only gets worse once you get inside.






At first glance it seems pretty normal for a car from the 80's. But once you actually get into it, it looks like they got the inspiration for the "control center" from some cheesy sci-fi flick.

It's only saving grace is the 300 Horse power engine which during that time was a pretty significant amount of ponies under the hood





Hopefully Aston Martin will keep this car locked away in it's basement where it will never be heard from again. Then again maybe some of you will like it, I don't, but maybe you will.

An Aston Martin more suited for a Bond Villain

This is the Aston Martin Vulcan. A "production" model limited to only 24 examples. It has a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 engine that puts out more than 800 horses! Although for $2.1 million dollars don't expect to be able to drive it on the road. This is a track only vehicle like the Ferrari FXX-K, but unlike the FXX-K if you are lucky enough to own one you get to actually take it home.
